07/12/16   Three Fordyce High School Students Recently Competed In Skills USA Championships

 

17 year old Callie Young, a recent Fordyce High School Grad, recently competed in the Skills USA Championships. The event, by invitation only, was for first place medalists in 100 competition areas for career and technical students. Its the largest skill competition in the world.

Young was a competitor in the Medical Terminology competition representing SAU Tech's Career Academy and won Bronze in the High School Division.

The Skills USA championships, held in Louisville, Kentucky, took place June 22 and 23 as part of the Skills USA 52nd annual National Leadership and Skills Conference, a showcase of career and technical education students.

During the week, more than 6,000 outstanding career and technical education students, all state contest winners, competed hands-on in 100 different trade, technical and leadership fields.

In addition to Young, Hannah Petit and Austin Metcalf, Fordyce High School student contestants also competed and worked against the clock and each other. The SAU Tech Career Academy provides career technical education for students in the college's service are in Computer Information Systems, Medical Technology Welding and more.
