06/28/16   Arkansas High Court Appoints New Judge To Preside In Pine Bluff Disbarment Case

The Arkansas Supreme Court last Thursday appointed a new special judge to preside over disbarment proceedings against at Pine Bluff lawyer.

The court previously named Vicki Cook of Hot Springs, a retired circuit judge, to serve as special judge in a disbarment case brought against Jeffrey Kearney by the court's committee on Professional Conduct.

Thursday the court appointed David Goodson, also a retired circuit judge, to preside over the case, noting that Cook has recused.

Kearney is accused of multiple violations of the rules of conduct for Arkansas lawyers, including failing to represent clients in a diligent and prompt manner; failing to keep clients reasonably informed about their cases; falsely stating in a petition for reinstatement that he did not practice law while his license was suspended; and improperly representing a client in a matter involving Illinois law despite not having a license to practice law in Illinois.
