06/27/16   Bearden's Old Train Depot Moved Over Weekend

The old depot building that had been parked along 79-B, just as you coming into Bearden, has been moved. Sanders Moving of Pine Bluff moved the building Friday beginning at around 9am and didn't complete the move until early in the afternoon. Denise Link, who had the idea of turning the old building into a combination library and museum was sitting in her car near the water tower in downtown Bearden waiting for the depot to come in sight. Link said it was going to take a while for the move to be complete.

Workers took down power lines and phone lines along North Cedar which is the same as highway 203, and then put them back up as the depot passed. Residents living along the route were without power for a short while. Link told us there would be lots more work to be done before the building could be transformed into a library-museum combination.

The full interview with Link can be heard Wednesday morning on KQ-102.3's "Bearden Brunch Bunch" broadcast at 11am.
