Deputy prosecuting attorneys for the 13^th Judicial District were busy filing criminal charges in Ouachita County Circuit Court on May 31. Deputy Prosecutor R. Jeffrey Sawyer filed charges against 44 year old Marcus Leon Shamkle of Camden, felon in possession of a firearm and Sawyer will seek to try Shamkle under the habitual criminal statute that allows for more jail time.

Deputy Prosecutor Phillip A. Stone filed charges against 39 year old Steven Wayne Perkins of Camden. Perkins was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. On April 24, Perkins was taken into custody on an active warrant from the Camden Police Department a search of his vehicle produced a computer and several syringes and a pill bottle containing Xanax.
