06/01/16    51 Year Old Fordyce Man Charged In Ouachita County

A 51 year old Fordyce man has been charged in Ouachita County Circuit Court with several violations. The charges were filed on May 25 by deputy prosecuting attorney Phillip A. Stone.

Stone filed charges of possession of a controlled substance, meth or cocaine. Second degree battery, resisting arrest, fleeing on foot and driving on a suspended license.

The charges are the result of an incident that occurred on April 10 in Camden. An officer on patrol spotted Wremburen J. Jones and knew he was wanted on a narcotics violation and followed Jones to a residence where the officer began to ask him questions. Jones attempted to run but was stopped by the officer. Jones and the officer exchanged blows and eventually Jones was taken into  custody. Both men suffered minor injuries as a result of the encounter.

A search of Jones' vehicle was conducted and a pill bottle containing suspected crack cocaine was found. His billfold contained over $200.00 and a razorblade. Two cell phones were also confiscated. It was also discovered that the Fordyce Police Department had a warrant on him.
