A 29 year old Camden man was cited on several traffic violations by Camden Police following a traffic stop on May 26.

According to the report officer Justin Harper, Joey Brandon Barnes was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a minor, driving on a suspended license, driving left of center, no vehicle tags and no child safety restraint.

Barnes was stopped for making an illegal “U” turn. When officer Harper stopped Barnes he began arguing with him. Harper observed 4 young children in the back seat and 2 young children out out of the 4 were not in a car seat. Harper said Barnes smelled of intoxicants and could not produce drivers license, registration and insurance card. Harper was advised by dispatch Barnes' license was suspended. Barnes was transported to the Camden Police station where he failed a sobriety check and was placed under arrest and transported to the Ouachita County detention facility.

On May 23, Camden police officer Andrew Tollefson was dispatched to Wal-Mart on a report of a shoplifter. Assistant manager Heather Rivers told Tollefson two females had just pushed a buggy full of merchandise out of the store without paying for it. The merchandise had an estimated value of $500.00.

One of the shoplifters said she was just helping a friend get her stuff to the car.
