Funeral services for 58 year old Jackie Ray Evans of Bearden will be held this afternoon at two at Benton Funeral Home Chapel in Fordyce with Brother Brian Caldwell and Brother Richard Merritt officiating. Burial at Evans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Landmark Baptist Church Building Fund. Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce in charge of arrangements.

Evans died in a one vehicle crash on Friday morning. According to a state police report, Evans was traveling south on 79 in the outside traffic lane. Evans failed to maintain control, went off the left side of the road into the median, striking a culvert. The vehicle then came back onto the road, crossed over 79 into the southbound ditch and struck a small tree. It was raining at the time of the mishap at 9:50 Friday morning.
