05/05/16   Ouachita County Quorum Court Passes Several Ordinances At May Meeting

The Ouachita County Quorum Court met Tuesday night at the Ouachita County Courthouse. The Justices of the Peace passed all  ordinances on the agenda.

One of the ordinances created a driver's license testing budget. $7,045.00 was appropriated for that budget which includes contract labor, electricity and construction in progress. The funds were appropriated from anticipated County General revenue.

The JP's approved the appropriation of $87,666.00 for the courthouse accountability budget with the funds coming from a check received from a Court Accountability Grant.

An appropriation of $2,500.00 was approved by the JP's for small equipment with funds from County General.

The JP's voted to replace the Ouachita County Employee Personnel Policy put in place in April, 2013 with a revised policy. All county employees are considered “at will” employees and employment can be terminated at any time without notice or liability of any kind and with or without cause except for wages earned and unpaid. Nothing in this Employment Policy creates a property right in employment, nor establishes grounds upon which discipline or dismissal must be based.

An appropriation of $33,175.81 was approved by the court for small equipment and miscellaneous law enforcement needs with the funds coming from the County Jail fund and County Jail Budget.
