05/04/16   Three Vehicle Accident Claims Two Lives

 

State police investigated a double fatality crash that occurred Monday night in Lawrence county that involved three vehicles.  According to the State Police report, a 2004 Chevy Truck driven by 59 year old John Kevin Elledge of Pocahontas was northbound on highway 63, crossed the center line and struck a 2010 Toyota Corolla driven by 20 year old Britney Jean Vickers of Florida.

The Elledge vehicle overturned in the highway and was struck in the drivers side by a third vehicle, a 2005 Dodge pickup driven by 48 year old Douglas McConnell of Cherokee Village.

Elledge and Vickers were both killed. McConnell and 67 year old James Estes of Ash Flat, a passenger in the McConnell vehicle were injured.

Weather conditions were clear, the roadway dry at the time of the crash Monday night at 9:39pm. State police corporal Anthony Dial investigated the accident. It was the state's 152nd and 153rd fatality this year.
