04/29/16   Charges Filed In Ouachita County Circuit Court

Phillip A. Stone, deputy prosecuting attorney for the 13 Judicial district, division three, filed charges on April 21 in Circuit Court in Camden against 25 year old Diamond Jermaine Belin of Camden. According to information on file at the Circuit Clerk's office, Belin was charged on March 2,  with aggravated assault on a household member and third degree domestic battery.

Sixty year old Joseph Lee Reed of Camden on March 30,  was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. On March 20,  police executed a search warrant at 2280 Craig Street, Reed's residence and discovered a 12 gauge shotgun in Reed's bedroom. Reed was convicted of manslaughter in 1982 and received 10 years in prison.

Reed came to the Camden Police station inquiring as to why police searched his home. He admitted the gun was his and said he had it since 1987 after being released from prison. There's nothing in the report that answers the question of why police searched Reed's home. Reed was released on his own recognizance.
