04/20/16   Drug Charges Filed Against Camden Man Found Sleeping In Car Wash

A twenty-three year old Camden man found sleeping in his vehicle in a car wash early March 8, has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a controlled substance.

The charges came as the result of a search of a vehicle driven by Jonathan Andrew Smith of Camden. A Camden police officer on patrol found Smith asleep in his vehicle parked in a carwash.

As the officer approached the vehicle, he spotted a Rugger handgun lying between Smith's legs and a small bag of marijuana lying on his lap. A glass pipe believed to contain a small amount of meth was also discovered. Smith claimed the handgun was for his fiancé for self defense. A record check revealed Smith had been convicted for theft of property in 2009 in Union County.
