04/18/16    Rain Causes Some Changes At Cotton Belt Festival

This is day two of the 36th annual Fordyce on the Cotton Belt Festival. Due to the rain in the forecast CASA's Karaoke night has been moved indoors. The event has been moved to Hope Hall In the 1st United Methodist Church at the corner of Main and West Fourth streets and  is scheduled for 6pm.

There are no activities scheduled for tomorrow so that people can attend Wednesday night prayer meeting.

The activity picks up on Thursday evening at 7pm when the gospel group Rough and Ready is featured at the courthouse lawn. The carnival will be set up Thursday for rides through Saturday of the festival in the courthouse area.

Fordyce on the Cotton Belt t-shirts are for sale at the headquarters building in the old Benton Furniture store on main street downtown. If you have questions about the parade or any of the other activities you can contact the headquarters at 870-352-5125 or you can contact Joe Bill Meador at 870-352-2055.

There's $3,600,00 in prize money to win in this year's steak cook-off. You can get more information on that by calling Candace McCollum at 870-313-2450. The championship steak cook-off will be held at 4th and Oak Streets on Saturday. Judging takes place from 2-4pm with the steak sale at 5pm. The winners of the cook off will be announced Saturday night at 6pm on stage at the courthouse.
