Bearden Mayor Iva Lou Stokes, In a recent council meeting, told the council the city has no  ordinance on the books pertaining to people living in dwellings where utilities are not hooked up.

The council postponed indefinitely a request for a new fireman until certain issues are resolved. Fire chief A-W Evans said he currently has eight fire fighters and two in training. He said the city now has a fire rating of four.

The council approved a personnel handbook for Bearden City Employees. An ordinance was approved by the council allowing a one dollar fee to be added onto the water bill of Bearden residents to be used in paying expenses for mosquito spraying.
