04/08/16   Record Attendance Expected At Homesteading Conference Today and Tomorrow in Rison

Today is the first day of the South Arkansas Homesteading Conference at Pioneer Village in Rison. It will be two days packed full of useful information for folks that would like to get back to the basics and raising organic food. Britt Talent of the Cleveland County Herald, one of the sponsors of the conference was our guest yesterday on KQ-102.3's South Arkansas Today and said the conference just keeps attracting more and more people.

A community garden open house will be the first event this evening beginning at 4pm. Les Walz, staff chair for the Cleveland County Extension Service and other volunteers will be on hand to answer your questions about gardening.

Talent says at 5pm this evening, you can enjoy a great “beans and greens supper”.

At 6:30, Talent's wife Karen co-founder of the homesteading conference will talk about making a wild elderberry folk remedy.  At about 7pm, Valerie Hall will present “Preserving Family recipes” and at 7:45, Britt Talent will discuss “Chicken Tractor design concepts”.

Tomorrow, there will be two track sessions, one on stage and another in the exhibit hall, beginning at 10am, going on until around 2:30 in the afternoon. There's a youth track for the kids too.
