03/01/16 Fordyce Peace Park Dedication Scheduled For Saturday |
According to Barbara Finley, executive director of the Fordyce Chamber of Commerce, there will be a dedication ceremony Saturday morning at 10am in the Peace Park in downtown Fordyce for a new marker recently erected there. The marker recounts that troops used Dallas County Roads on the way to the Battle of Marks Mill in Cleveland County, which was one of three significant battles of the Red River Campaign, the other two battles were Jenkins Ferry and Poison Springs. The marker was place in Peace Park by the Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission, Dallas County Museum, Dallas County and the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program.
