02/18/16   Authorities Recover Weapon Believed Used In Terry Smith Murder

 

The weapon believed to be used in the shooting death of Terry Smith of Fordyce has been recovered. According to Dallas County Sheriff Stan McGehee, a 20 gauge shotgun believed to have been used by Cody Williams of Fordyce to shoot Smith on January 12, was discovered by a local resident in a ditch on County Road 126. An extensive search by Dallas County deputies was conducted following the shooting death but the weapon was not found.

Williams remains in the Dallas County Detention Center where he was taken after being charged with first degree murder. No further information has been released in the case as to why Williams shot Smith. Williams has hired an attorney.
