02/16/16   Today Is First Day Of Early Voting

 

Early voting in the March 1 Primary election begins today. Voting will begin at 8am and polls remain open until 6pm, Monday through Friday, 10am till 4pm on Saturday. Actually, yesterday was designated for the first day for early voting but it was a national holiday, so the date was moved to today.

There will be three candidates on the Democratic ballot for Dallas County Circuit Court Clerk; Judy Turner, Pam Barnes and Mike McNichol. The incumbent, Susie Williams decided not to run for re-election.

Dallas County Collector, Brenda Wilson Black, a Democrat, is being challenged by Shawna May, also a Democrat.

Vanessa Pierce is challenging Crystal N. Stroud for Dallas County Assessor.

Former Dallas County Sheriff Donny Ford, constable for District 9 is being challenged by Kenneth Workman for that position.

At Sparkman, Mary W. Oliver, ward 1, position 1 alderman is being challenged by Cecily Mann, both are Democrats.

In Ouachita County, Betty R. Wilson, Ouachita County Circuit Clerk is being challenged by Gladys Ferguson Nettles, who is currently employed in the Ouachita County Assessor's office.

The other race in Ouachita County is for county coroner. Sylvester Lee Smith Jr. is the incumbent. His challenger is Kenneth “Kenny” Morris.

The dealine for the county clerk in each Arkansas County to receive absentee ballot applications by mail, fax or e-mail is Tuesday, February 23.

Last day for early voting is Monday, February 29th. That's also the deadline for absentee ballots of overseas voters or armed services personnel serving in active status to be received.
