02/09/16   Several Ordinances Were Passed At February's Ouachita County Quorum Court

 

At the Ouachita County Quorum court meeting on February 2, the JP's passed an ordinance appropriating $250,000.00 for the construction project underway on installing a new roof on the Ouachita County courthouse.

In other business, an ordinance was passed revising personnel policy for  Ouachita County employees. The ordinance states that all Ouachita county employees are considered to be “at will” employees. At will employment is not for a specific period of time and employment may be terminated at any except for wages earned and unpaid and with or without cause. The ordinance further states that nothing in this employment policy creates a property right in employment nor establishes grounds upon which discipline or dismissal must be based.

An ordinance was passed appropriating $27,000.00 from county general for purchase of a vehicle for trips for all county offices and 911 addressing.

And an appropriation ordinance was passed amounting to over $204,000.00.

Over $2,900.00 was appropriated to the judge's office and county clerk for unemployment and internet connections, $795.00 to the library for internet connections and over $200,000 to solid waste for car allowance and vehicle purchases.
