02/08/16   Harmony Grove Looking For A Millage Increase

The Harmony Grove School District is taking a millage increase proposal to the voters for a second time. The District is seeking a 5.6 mill increase tomorrow. It's a second attempt to fund construction projects and make improvements to existing facilities. Early voting began Monday.

If approved, the 5.6 mills would increase the millage rate in the district in Ouachita County to 45.7 mills and raise about 4.6 million dollars a year. The millage increase would increase taxes on a $100,000.00 home by $112.00.

Voters on September 15 last year,  turned down a similar proposal by a 25 vote margin of 299-274.  According to Ouachita County Clerk Britt Williford, 60 people have cast early votes.
