01/27/16   A New Edinburg Man Is Charged In Connection With High Speed Auto Chase

A 46 year old New Edinburg man has been charged by Dallas County authorities for fleeing apprehension. The incident occurred on December 28 when Dallas County Deputy Ryan Coleman was flagged down by by Terry Childes who reported that Fredric Rainey of New Edinburg had pulled a gun on Carrie Childes and was asking for Coleman's advise when Rainey came up behind them in his pickup truck, running the stop sign.

Officer Coleman gave chase. Rainey stopped to let a teenager out of the truck and took off running numerous stop signs, through a highly populated area, finally making it to Highway 79 where he traveled north toward Kingsland, driving in the wrong lane, running people off the road, at speeds up to 110 miles an hour. Coleman's vehicle had a blow out at the airport and terminated his pursuit. A warrant was issued for Rainey's arrest and he was taken into custody.
