01/26/16   A Bridge Is The Hold Up On The I-69 Highway Project

In a recent interview on South Arkansas Today, Fordyce Chamber executive director Barbara Finley talked about the I-69 controversy. The big holdup in development of the project is the expense to be incurred by the state for its portion of the cost of a bride over the Mississippi River. Finley said there was lots of controversy about the location of the bridge.

Bill Clinton was President at the time and Trent Lott was a very powerful senator from Mississippi. Finley talked about some of the considerations at the time.

There is construction going on the I-69 project which is planned to extend from the Mexican border to the Canadian border.
