01/14/16   Murder In Dallas County

Dallas County recorded its first homicide of the year Tuesday night around 11pm. According to a report from the Dallas County Sheriff's office, the Sheriff's office received a phone call from a residence at Dallas 115, reporting gunshots and a male slumped over the steering wheel of an older model Red Jeep.

Dallas county deputies arriving at the scene found 48 year old Terry Smith of Fordyce unresponsive. Neighbors informed deputies that a man carrying a shotgun had stolen a car across the street from the crime scene immediately after they heard gunshots. About an hour later, 34 year old Cody Williams of Fordyce was arrested on a traffic stop in Fordyce. Williams was taken into custody and transported to the Dallas County Detention Center where he's being held on first degree murder.

Smith's body was taken to the Arkansas Crime Lab for an autopsy. A motive for the murder has not been revealed at this time.
