01/13/16   Bearden Hires Texarkana Engineering Firm For Sewer Development

In addition to reading the ordinance pertaining to the rate increase for sewer and water, the Bearden city council voted to hire A.L. Franks Engineering of Texarkana to provide the city's sewer development services. During a discussion of the new rates, Councilman Bobby Steelman said his bill would almost double. Mayor Stoker responded.

The council also voted to hire Friday, Eldridge and Clark law firm as bonding counsel. They had been hired already to handle the water project but had to be voted upon again for the sewer improvement project.

In other action, the council voted to appoint Tim Rogers City Fire Marshall and fire code official. Fire chief A-W Evans said hiring Rogers City Fire Marshall should give the city of Bearden an even lower fire insurance rate.
