12/25/15   Local Law Authorities Will Enforce Statewide Drinking And Driving Campaign

 

The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, being enforced by State and local law enforcement agencies continues through the New Years weekend.

Law enforcement officers will be working overtime during the holiday season to identify and arrest drunk drivers on Arkansas streets and highways. Increased saturation patrols will be part of the initiative designed to keep Arkansas roadways safe during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

 In 2014, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recorded 9,967 deaths in motor vehicle crashes involving at least one driver or motorcycle operator with a blood alcohol concentration of .08.

Arkansas recorded 135 deaths as a result of alcohol related crashes during the same reporting period.
