12/23/15   Fordyce Man Charged With Three Feony Counts

Thirty-two year old Marion Earl Mitchell of Fordyce has been charged in Dallas County Circuit Court on three felony counts.

According to papers filed in court by Deputy Prosecutor Tom Wynne, Mitchell was charged with a felon in possession of a firearm. Theft by receiving, in this case a hand gun, and possession of a controlled substance, marijuana.

According to an incident report from the Dallas County Sheriff's Office, on October 26, Dallas County deputies Ryan Coleman and Todd Cartwright encountered Mitchell on Brown Street in Fordyce. Mitchell was smoking a marijuana cigar and had another in his possession. A hand gun found in Mitchell's pocket was later identified as one that had been stolen.

 Wynne indicated in the charges filed that he'll seek to have Mitchell tried under the habitual offender statute that allows the judge to mete out additional time in his sentence.
