12/09/15   Ouachita County Judge Robbie McAdoo Attends I-69 Meeting

Ouachita County Judge Robbie McAdoo attended an I-69 revitalization meeting in El Dorado yesterday at South-Ark.  The meeting was presided over by the former head of the Arkansas Transportation Department, Dan Flowers. The I-69 project dates back to 1993.  The idea was to build an interstate that would run from the Mexican border to Detroit, Michigan, to provide a better road to move freight. McAdoo says some work is being done on the project now. Texas is upgrading highway 59 to interstate standards and Route 80 up north is being upgraded. The route would cross Arkansas, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi and other states  north, all the way to Detroit. McAdoo tells us how the revitalization project came about.

McAdoo says the big hold up on the project at this time is what's known as the “great bridge project”.

Representatives from Congress were present at the meeting along with representatives from the Legislature.  In addition to Judge McAdoo, county judges from Ashley, Union, Calhoun  plus other interested people from Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas attended the meeting.
