11/25/15   Camden Throws Hat In Ring For 1.3 Billion Dollar Pulpwood Mill

As we reported yesterday, Governor Asa Hutchinson has signed a letter of intent with a Chinese company that plans to study the feasibility of building a 1 point 3 billion dollar pulp mill in South Arkansas.  The Governor signed the memo with the chairman and founder of Sun Paper during the governor's trade mission to Asia. We asked Ouachita County Judge Robbie McAdoo his thoughts about the probability of such a location in South Arkansas.

The judge says he had heard about the proposition about six months ago.  McAdoo said he didn't think such a plant would hurt the smaller facilities in this part of the state.

On another subject, Judge McAdoo said bids will be opened on the repair of the courthouse roof and the construction of a new municipal court at the county jail site on December 15th.

The Ouachita County Quorum Court met yesterday afternoon for a budget hearing in preparation for the presentation of a new budget for the county in January.
