11/09/15  Head-on Collision Kills One Man, Sends Two Others To The Hospital

A Drew County man died in a two car crash near Monticello last week. According to a preliminary report from the State Police, 58 year old Gordon Russell Carter of Monticello died at the scene of the crash on State Highway 35, three miles east of Monticello.

Apparently, a 2009 Ford Focus, driven by Newton Lagrone of Monticello, crossed the center line of the road into the path of a 2012 Toyota Yaris, driven by 60 year old Ouida F. Carter of Monitcello..striking nearly  head-on. 

Mrs. Carter and Lagrone were taken to Monticello and Pine Bluff hospitals for treatment. The weather conditions were clear, roadway dry at the time of the crash at 3:29 Thursday afternoon.
