Dewey David Hobson of Rison died Friday in the Hospice unit of Greenhouse Cottages of Southern Hills in Rison, he was 85.

He served in the military during the Korean War.  He attended college following his military service and following his graduation, was employed by R.G.Varner Steel products as a draftsman.  The small company grew and was later known as Varco-Pruden, a nationally known prefabricated metal building company. Hobson was Quality Control Manager at Varco's Pine Bluff plant for 32 years before he retired.

A private family memorial service will be held Saturday, November 7 at Varnell Cemetery in Rison with Reverend Don Johnson officiating.  Memorials may be made to the Varnell Cemetery Fund in Rison. Buie Funeral Home of Rison in charge of cremation services.
