10/22/15  Tri-County Lake Down 5 1/2 Feet

According to Andy Yung, District Supervisor of Arkansas Game and Fish biologists at the Camden regional office, as of October 5, Tri-County lake was down five-and-a-half feet. The draw down started on July 6. Yung says there's no need for alarm because the original plan was for the lake to be lowered to near this level.

The drawdown is being conducted for multiple fisheries management purposes with the primary objective being to address the stunted crappie and bluegill populations in the lake.  Yung says the drawdown is also beneficial to fish habitat and has provided an opportunity to conduct maintenance work on the jetties.  Badly damaged sections of those fishing jetties have been repaired. Another major benefit of the drawdown will be the increase of fish habitat in the lake after refilling later this fall.
