10/21/15  Camden Man Charged With DWI Following One Vehicle Accident

A 40 year old Camden man was charged with DWI following a one vehicle crash this past Saturday at the intersection of Ouachita 46 and highway 24.

Deputy Cedric Gregory and State Police trooper Kevin Willis both responded to the mishap.  Upon arrival at the scene officers discovered a silver Chevy Impala in a wooded area off highway 24.  Skid marks revealed the driver ran the stop sign at the intersection, slid across highway 24 into the tree line where the vehicle struck two trees and came to a rest.  Witnesses at the scene said the driver exited the vehicle and was walking down highway 24.

Contact was made with the driver, identified as Roderick Smith of Camden. Smith had been drinking and was taken into custody and taken to OCMC for testing and observation.  He was later charged by Officer Willis with DWI and other traffic violations.  It was also discovered he had several outstanding warrants.
