10/15/15  Cathey Obit

Lee Roy “Pedie” Cathey of Thornton passed away Tuesday at the age of 85 at his home. Pedie and his brother O-D owned and operated a Ford Tractor dealership in Thornton.  He worked as a Calhoun County Deputy Sheriff and Thornton City Constable and was a member of the Thornton Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Peggy Lacewell Cathey of Thornton. Four children survive Libby and husband Paul Coates of Thornton,  Mary Dell Harper and husband Tommy of Thornton, Lee Roy Cathey Jr. of Thornton.  One brother survives, O-D Cathey and his wife Sara of Fordyce.  Three grand children and two great grand children survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Thornton United Methodist Church or Bethel Cemetery Association.

Visitation is this evening from 6-8pm at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Graveside services will be held at 11 tomorrow morning at Bethel Cemetery near Bearden with Rev Andy Hughes officiating. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
