10/13/15  Bearden City Council Appoints A New Mayor

The City of Bearden has a new mayor.  Following a five minute executive  session, the city council appointed the city's recorder-treasurer, Iva Lou Stoker the new mayor.  In accepting the position Mayor Stoker took time to thank Russell Davis for his service to the city.

The vote to appoint Stoker mayor was unanimous. The only other person interested in the job was former City Marshall Mitchell Pate. The city council will now have to appoint a new city recorder-treasurer. And Mayor Stoker also advised the council that the position of court clerk will have to be filled.  A notice will be posted for that job.Stoker was sworn into office last night by Justice of the Peace Ware Russell.
