09/28/15  Sheridan Woman Dies in Three Vehicle Accident

A Grant County woman died Friday morning following a three car crash on Highway 270 east of Sheridan. According to State Police,  a 2007 Buick, driven by 57 year old Ruby Smothers of Sheridan was westbound on 270 and a 2011 Dodge truck, driven by 34  year old Jeremy Morris of Sheridan was eastbound on 270, A third vehicle, a 2003 Ford truck, driven by 45 year old Kevin Kidder of Malvern was was also eastbound on 270.  Morris swerved into the westbound lanes to avoid a crash and struck the Smothers vehicle head-on, Kidder's vehicle then struck the rear end of the Morris vehicle.  Smothers was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by Grant County Coroner Michael Walton. Weather conditions were clear, the roadway was dry at the time of the crash at 6:20 Friday morning.  The crash was investigated by State Trooper Marshall Williams.
