09/22/15  Bearden Discusses Whether Or Not To Keep District Court

The Bearden City council has been debating for the past couple of meetings on whether or not to keep its District Court, citing the lack of funds being taken in by the court versus the expense of holding it. 

City Marshall John Ainsworth wants to keep the court in Bearden, he says if it was held in Camden that would mean be away from Bearden for long periods of time waiting for Bearden's cases to come before the judge. And there was some question on how much Bearden receives from each ticket that is written.

City Attorney Tom Wynne told the council that Sparkman has an excellent district court and he advised the Bearden council to check with authorities there on how they handle things.

City council woman Paula Bounds said she will check into it.
