09/07/15  It's Fair Week For Dallas And Ouachita Counties

This is Fair Week in Dallas and Ouachita Counties. Activities for the Dallas County Fair kick off Wednesday with the setting up of booths, check-in and arrangement of exhibits..that will take place from 1:30-5:30. Livestock begins arriving Wednesday afternoon at 4 and may be checked in till 8pm.  Exhibits open to the public Thursday from 2-8pm.  And they'll be open Friday 2-8pm...9-11am for school groups and for the public beginning at noon. This year's fair parade will begin at 10am at Beech Grove Baptist Church.  A gospel hour will be presented beginning at 11:30..the Rotary Egg Toss competition begins at noon. The 3^rd annual “Sticky Fingers” BBQ cookoff will begin Saturday morning at  6am with the winners being announced in the afternoon. Candace McCollums, on South Arkansas Today, said this year's event is sanctioned and will offer five categories.

McCollum said the entry fee is one $100.00.  She said she's hoping to have 25 teams enter this year to win lots of cash.

She said the competitors can get set up Friday night and their will be a mandatory cooks meeting Saturday morning. The 3^rd annual Dallas County Music Festival will kick off at 1pm and will go till 7pm, sponsored  by Fordyce Bank and Mortgage. Also on Saturday at 12:45 is the Sonic Drive Inn's “Cram them Dogs” hot dog eating contest. Saturday will also feature a livestock and horse show starting at 9am followed by the annual premium sale. Exhibits will be open Saturday from 9am till 2pm.

The 2015 Ouachita County Fair will be held this Thursday thru Saturday at the Ouachita county fairgrounds at Camden. Admission is $5.00, advanced armbands $15.00 at the gate $20.00. Parking is free.  The carnival opens at 6pm Thursday and Friday and 1pm on Saturday. Senior Citizen's Day at the fair is Thursday from 11am-1pm.  Lunch will be served at 11:30..there will be bingo at noon.  The Next Big Thing is each night of the fair at 7pm.  Kids Day is Friday from 8am till 10am. The Premium Sale is Friday beginning at noon.  Lunch will be served at 11:30am.
