08/25/15  One Vehicle Crash Claims The Life Of Camden Man

 

A Camden man died in a one vehicle crash Sunday night.  According to a report pr filed by Lt. Cedric D. Gregory of the Ouachita County Sheriff's Office, at about 8pm Sunday night a vehicle driven by 41 year old Craig Hitchcock was  traveling west on Ouachita 32, near the intersection of Highway 7 and lost control of his vehicle on a curve. The vehicle rolled over, ejecting Hitchcock. Hitchcock struck a utility pole and was killed on impact.

The vehicle came to rest overturned in a ditch.  Evidence at the scene suggested Hitchcock was driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed.  Witnesses stated Hitchcock was traveling at a high rate of speed in spite of a flat tire on the rear of the vehicle.  Gregory said in his report alcoholic beverages were found in and around the vehicle.  Hitchcock was pronounced dead at the scene by Ouachita County Coroner Sylvester Smith.
