08/25/15  North Carolina Man Dies In El Dorado Plane Crash

A North Carolina man died in a plane crash near the El Dorado airport Sunday.   According to a report from the Union County Sheriff's Office an investigation is under way by the National Transportation Safety Board to determine the cause of the crash. A spokesman at the Sheriff's office said the Sheriff's office received a report Sunday, shortly after noon of a small plane crashing near the airport.   The pilot died in the crash. 

There were no passengers in the plane. According to the spokesman at the Sheriff's office, the pilot was heading for the Grand Canyon when the crash occurred.  The pilot's name was not released pending notification of next of kin.
