08/07/15  Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden Safest In Arkansas

 

According to a news release, the Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden has been ranked as the “Safest Hospital in Arkansas”, that according to a Consumer Reports story. OCMC President and CEO, Peggy Abbott, stated in the release the hospital received a score of 68 out of a possible 100 in the category and received the highest rating of any hospital in the state.

The safety score is a summary of five categories that relate to hospital safety., avoiding infections, avoiding readmissions, communicating about medications and discharge, appropriate use of chest and abdominal scanning and avoiding mortality, both medical and surgical.

Abbott said in the release she has long felt that OCMC has an outstanding group of professionals, committed to doing the right thing for the patient. She said this ranking proves our efforts have been worthwhile.  Abbott said OCMC far surpassed the larger facilities, including Arkansas Heart and Baptist Hospitals.
