07/27/15  Cases From Bearden District Court

District Court was held in Bearden on July 16 and the 3rd Thursday of every month, Judge Dan Ives presiding. In court last Thursday, Jacob Farley of Hampton appeared in court on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and fleeing.  The judge levied fines and costs amounting to $425.00 against Farley on the fleeing charge, $650.00 in fines and costs for possession of a controlled substance, and $450.00 in fines and costs for possession of drug paraphernalia.  Farley was ordered to pay $600.00 dollars the day of his appearance and $100.00 dollars a week until his fines are paid.

Cristy Hall, who resided at Cedar Square apartments in Bearden on July 7, was cited for failure to vacate her apartment for non-payment of rent and failure to pay a security deposit.  Judge Ives ordered Hall to make restitution amounting to $512.00 and pay $100.00 dollars a month beginning August 3.

Rany Puterbaugh of Bearden did not appear in court on charges of driving without a drivers license, no vehicle license and no proof of insurance. Judge Ives order Puterbaugh to pay a total of $825.00 dollars in fines and costs and swore out a warrant for Puterbaugh's arrest for failure to appear with a $1,000.00  bond.

Eric Raney of Fordyce was due to appear in court last Thursday also, he did not show up.  On June 18, he was charged with harassment.  Pamela Berry filed charges against Raney who allegedly threatened to kill Berry and anyone else who called the police on him.  Judge Ives ordered Raney to pay a total of $250.00 in fines and costs and issued a warrant for his arrest and a $500.00 dollar bond for failure to appear. Bearden City aldermen have been discussing whether or not to continue the District Court in Bearden.  The council is waiting on taking any action pending the amount of money the court collects within in the next few months to see if it's economically feasible to retain the court in Bearden.  If the court was closed in Bearden, those summoned to court would have to appear in court in Camden.
