07/24/15  Two Die In Head-On With 18-Wheeler

 

Two young men from Monette died in a head-on crash with an 18 wheeler early Thursday morning in Craighead County. According to a state police report, the dead were identified as 19 year old Tanner Platz and 20 year old Zachary Wells of Monette.  They died at the scene of the collision between their vehicle and an 18 wheeler.

The report states that a tractor trailer, driven by 44 year old Chad Marshall of Jonesboro was headed west on highway 18, and a GMC driven by Wells was headed east.  The truck crossed over into the eastbound lane and struck the Wells vehicle head-on.  Deputy Coroner Milton Harrison pronounced Wells and Platz dead at the scene.  Marshall was taken to a Jonesboro hospital for treatment.

State Trooper Dustin Morgan investigated the accident. It was raining and the roadway was wet at the time of the crash at 2:49 Thursday morning.
