07/23/15  Dallas County Sheriff Stan McGhee Says Over $44,000.00 in Inmate Housing Bills Outstanding

 

According to a report to the Dallas County Quorum court Tuesday night by Dallas County Sheriff Stan McGhee, the Sheriff's department has over $44,000.00 in inmate housing bills outstanding.  McGhee reported for the month of July, $78,200.00 in housing bills was paid of over $122,000.00 due.  As of last week, there were a total of 95 prisoners at the Dallas County Detention Center. 

McGhee told us most of those were federal prisoners and he said the U-S Marshall's services pays their bills.  In June, the Marshall's service paid the county $73,000.00.  The Arkansas Department of Community Corrections isn't so prompt in paying its housing bills, they have six bills, one as high as $4,500.00 that have not been paid, dating back to early last year.  There's one bill from the state of Florida, dating back to October of last year for over $3,700.00.

McGhee reported that housing receipts for the month of June totaled over $113,000.00. Year-to-date: over $600,000.00. Money collected from bonds and fines, circuit court, the fee account and commissary profit totaled over $70,000.00 thousand dollars for the 2nd quarter. Almost $163,000.00, year-to-date.
