07/21/15  Frieda Griffis Donates Old railroad Depot T City Of Bearden

Frieda Griffis addressed the Mayor and council members.  She said she's donating the old railroad depot that sits on her property to the City of Bearden. Mrs. Griffis has placed the following stipulations on the gift, the city will be responsible for moving the depot from her property to the property the city designates, city workers will be responsible for clearing her personal items from inside the depot to her storage building.  The city will be responsible for cleaning up her property after the depot's removal.

Mrs. Griffis also requested the recognition plaques be placed in the depot honoring Mrs. Zettie Link and Denise Link for their love and dedication to the preservation of the City of Bearden, and also recognizing her late husband, Gene Griffis and the Double-G Trucking Company for refurbishing the depot to its original state. She's including in her donation the paintings by Zettie Link of the depot and gazebo. Alderwoman Denise Link is doing the necessary research on the cost and volunteers needed to meet Mrs. Griffis' stipulations.
