07/10/15  Mechanic At SAU Tech Faces Theft Charges

A mechanic at South Arkansas University Tech has been charged in Circuit Court in Camden with theft by receiving and the fraudulent use of a credit card. According to a police report in the court file, 55 year old Freddie Gulley of Camden, a mechanic at SAU Tech, had access to credit card use for the purchase of fuel for vehicles at the school.

In December of last year, the school reported to state police the theft of motor fuel.  A bookkeeper noticed over a six month period fuel was being purchased and shown on statements unaccounted for by fuel receipts. Transactions were checked through January of this year.  An older model Chevy truck was seen on video on several occasions at the same time the credit card was being used, another vehicle too.

A check on the Chevy truck revealed it was registered to Veronica Gonsulin of Camden but was driven by her husband, Freddie Gulley., the other vehicle in the video was at the same address.  There  were approximately 330 transactions using the card over a six month period.  The loss was estimated at $11,313.00
