07/09/15  Ouachita County Quorum Court

In addition to giving the green light to three construction projects amounting to nearly $4,000,000.00, the Ouachita County Quorum Court took other action as well.

One of the ordinances approved by the JP's was the approval of the purchase of an excavator.  Judge McAdoo explained to the court that equipment in the county road department is being updated.  Currently the county has a 1999 model excavator that constantly needed repair.  A 2003 model excavator was purchased from Hugg and Hall for approximately 71 thousand dollars.  The judge said it was a good investment for the county.

An appropriation ordinance was passed appropriating money from  the jail fund's unappropriated 2015 anticipated revenue.  The expenditure of $74,000.00 was approved for vehicles and an equipment shed for 44 thousand 500 dollars.

Judge McAdoo said he wanted the JP's to think about enacting a county-wide ordinance that would protect county residents from scammers.  That will considered at the next Quorum Court meeting.  And the judge said a third mosquito  abatement truck has been put to work in the county in an effort to keep mosquitoes at bay.
