07/08/15   Filing Window for School Board Positions Now Closed

Filing for school board positions ended at noon yesterday.

In Fordyce, Jessica Young presented her petition with the 25 needed  signatures for re-election to Zone 4 on the Fordyce School Board.  She is the incumbent and no one filed against her.

For the Bearden School Board, Doug Easterling of Thornton was up for re-election but according to Ouachita County Clerk Britt Williford,  Easterling did not have enough names on a petition that each candidate must present to the County Clerk's office for election, he only presented 16 names.  Williford said that means Easterling's name will not be on the ballot and the school board will appoint someone to serve in the Zone 6 district.  That will be done following the first school board meeting following the school board election on September 15..

In the Camden Fairview school district, all the board members have to be re-elected due to consolidating with the Stephens school district. Three candidates filed for the Zone 4 district in the Fairview school district.. Gordon Rogers, Patrick Thrower and Kristi Branch.  Two filed for the Zone six position on the board, David Mosely and Tammy Lewis. There were two candidates that filed for the Zone 7 seat, Carey Bennett and Maurice Porchia.

In the Harmony-Grove school district. there's a three way race for Position two on the board, Paulette Sullivent, Jeremy Givens and Gregory Givens. Two are vying for the Zone 7 seat, Randy Jenkins and Stephen McCann. School board elections take place September  15.
