07/06/15   Ashley County Woman Dies In Car-Train Crash

 

An Ashley County woman died in a car-train collision on Friday morning. According to a state police report, a 2009 Toyota, driven by 82 year old Betty Gay Shuler of Portland, Arkansas,  was headed west on Ashley County Road 53, crossing the railroad tracks when her vehicle was struck by a train.  After impact, Shuler's vehicle rolled twice before  coming to a stop.  She was pronounced dead at the scene by Ashley County Coroner Steve Hartshorn. The crash was investigated by Corporal Mitch Grant of the State Police. Weather conditions were clear and road conditions dry at the time of crash at 11:55 Friday morning.
