Jerry Wayne Ashcraft of Pine Bluff passed away Tuesday at the age of 67. Jerry was one of the most prolific scorers in Arkansas high school basketball history and led his Grady Wolverines to the State Championship game. His talents were rewarded with a scholarship to the University of Arkansas where his dream of being a Razorback was realized. 

He was a recipient of the prestigious Carnegie Medal, awarded for Bravery and Heroism after saving the lives of four youths who were on a train trestle near Camden.  His heroic deed made national news and he was recognized by President Ronald Reagan and other leaders.

Funeral services will be held this evening at 6:30 at Fuller-Hale-South Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will follow the service. Fuller-Hale-South Funeral Home of Pine Bluff in charge of arrangements.
