06/19/15 Juneteenth Celebration Begins This Evening in Camden |
The Juneteenth celebration will begin this evening at 5pm with the “Libation Ceremony” at the Leake-Ingham house next to the McCollum Chidester House Museum in Camden. The Ouachita County Ministerial Alliance Banquet will be held at 6:30 at Greater St. Paul Baptist Church. Tickets for the event are twenty dollars. A street dance will cap off the evening from 7-9pm in the Farmers Bank parking lot. Tomorrow morning at 10 the Juneteenth festivities continue with a parade on Adams Avenue. The celebration will then move to Carnes Park and include music, a BBQ contest and dessert contest that will result in cash prizes and trophies. There will be a car show, vendors and more. |
