06/04/15  Pine Bluff Proper Fortunate on Flooding, So Far

Pine Bluff Mayor Debe Hollingsworth, on a recent South Arkansas Sunrise broadcast said Pine Bluff proper has been fortunate so far with the flooding that has been taking place on the outskirts of town.  Holllingsworth said there are places designated for people out in the county to go if they have to evacuate their homes.. The Red Cross and Salvation Army have been pitching in and feeding people also. The Mayor said how we fare in the next couple of days or a week from now will depend on what happens in Oklahoma.

On KQ-102.3's South Arkansas Sunrise yesterday Jefferson County OEM manager Wesley Hunt said the river stage depends on whether or not Oklahoma opens up the flood gates and lets water loose.  The river is supposed to crest at a little over 46 feet tomorrow. Hunt said so far about 200 residents have had to evacuate their homes out in the county. For more information or for assistance, you can call Hunt's office at 541-4471.
